Open for fishing. Read your park regulations. No felt on your boots in Yellowstone Park in 2018 and beyond.
An abundant snow pack is coming out of the Absaroka and Beartooth Mountains with volume and velocity. It has been a while since North Fork Anglers has seen the Lamar River in the NE corner of Yellowstone run 12,500 cubic feet per second. Needless to say, the river is blown.
Slough and Soda Butte Creeks are also running high and swift. Afternoon thunder storms are also contributing to the snow melt and lousy fishing conditions this week.
We expect the NE corner of the Park to settle down and begin to fish well by the end of June or 4th of July weekend. Just in time for big salmonflies and caddis action! Fish somewhere else the next few weeks while the snow is melting and the rivers are huge.
Lamar flow: 1190 Flows are dropping now. Runoff is about over in the Lamar Valley. 1-2 more weeks!!
