Both the Bighorn and Wind River Canyon are fishing well right now. Water temps are cooling down and the fish are happy. Look for BWO’s on the surface and strip streamers for aggressive browns on their way up to spawn. The South Fork of the Shoshone is a smaller version of the North Fork of the Shoshone. With the flows down you might have to do some sneaking to make that good cast. Winter fishing conditions. The lower Shoshone is fishing very well right now. Fish are still taking hoppers with some regularity and nymphing has been excellent. BWO’s and small Caddis are on the water and fish have been gorging on them on cloudy days. CFS: 414 Flies: Firebead sowbug, Purple and Peacock Prince, Black North Fork Specials, San Juan Worms, Midge pupa, Pheasant Tails, Bloody Mary’s, Jigged Soft Hackles, Rubber legged streamers and leech patterns.
Wintery weather is starting to lower the water temps and the fish are getting sluggish. Focus on fishing during the warmest part of the day for the best results. CFS: 283 Flies: PT nymphs, Prince, North Fork Specials, Para Adams, Buggers, leeches, and sculpin patterns.
