Monster Lake

April 20, 2019 9:00 am

Monster Lake is fishing well to midges and leeches now. We even had some bigger browns gulping Callibaetis dries, even though we have not seen those emerging yet. Fun! The trout have been taking leech patterns and chironomid pupa along the banks.  Fishing doesn’t get any better than Monster Lake. Big Browns, rainbows, cutthroat, brook and tiger trout. Water temps are in the mid to high 40’s.  Six weight and heavier fly rods are mandatory, as are leader and tippet – 1x or heavier! All flies are to be barbless.

Callibaetis are hatching!!  I know this sounds weird for this time of year but its really happening!

Contact North Fork Anglers (307-527-7274) or Mike Arnold (231-343-7303) for information on Monster Lake and to book a guided trip.

Flies: Size 10-14: Ice cream cones, Wade’s Bow-Tie Midge, Zebra Midges, Scuds, Hares Ears, Pheasant Tails, Red Copper Johns, and small San Juan or wire worms. Leeches, wooly buggers and streamers – black, olive, brown, white, size 4-10.
