The trout have been taking leech patterns, Callibaetis emergers and dries and chironomid pupa along the banks.  Streamers in deep water. Hoppers are also beginning to grab the trout’s attention. Water temps are in the low 60’s now. Six weight and heavier fly rods are mandatory, as are leader and tippet – 3x or heavier! Barbless hooks.

Flies: Ice cream cones, Wade’s Bow-Tie Midge, Zebra Midges, Scuds, Hares Ears, Pheasant Tails, Red Copper Johns, and small San Juan or wire worms. Dries – Light Cahills, parachute Adams, Ho Candy. Leeches, wooly buggers – black, olive, brown, white. Streamers would be Clouser Minnows, Zonkers, Double Bunnys and conehead Muddlers.
