Upper and Lower Sunshine Reservoirs

June 15, 2019 9:00 am

Water temps are in the mid 50’s now on the surface. Both lakes are FULL.  The trout are cruising the edges of upper Sunshine. Fish finders are marking trout in the 10-20 foot depths at Lower Sunshine. Leeches, baby crayfish and streamer patterns are taking splake, Yellowstone cutthroat and tiger trout in the lower lake.

The upper lake has been fishing great using midge pupae patterns, size 8 and smaller bead head nymphs (hares ears, PT’s, NF specials) and also streamers for the Yellowstone cutthroat. Streamers are best fished with a sink-tip, intermediate or full sink fly lines. Your choice. Same for the crayfish patterns.
