Slough Creek is fishing well, especially in the upper meadows, while Soda Butte Creek is fishing not so good until one gets close to the Lamar River. Carry bear spray and keep an eye on buffalo when fishing Soda Butte, Slough or the Lamar!
The Lamar River is flowing 821 cfs at Tower and is high and definitely fun to right now upstream. Tribs are very wadeable now. Lots of bugs, including mosquitoes and no-see-ums. The trout are keying on hoppers now after lunch. Trail your hopper with a small ant or beetle pattern to keep the rods bent. Dry/nymph dropper rigs also produce in this area of Yellowstone.
Caddis, pale morning duns, green drakes and small stoneflies are hatching too on all the rivers and streams in the NE corner of Yellowstone.
