Monster Lake

It is caddis time! This is the time to take advantage of some very good dry fly action at Monster Lake!! Book your days through North Fork Anglers and SAVE $75 per rod fee for Self Guided fly fishing.

The trout have also been taking leech patterns, Callibaetis emergers and dries and chironomid pupa well along the banks.  Streamers in deep water. The large lake caddis are beginning to emerge. Cool temps have retarded that hatch for the weekend. Hoppers are also beginning to grab the trout’s attention. Water temps are in the low 60’s by mid-afternoon. Six weight and heavier fly rods are mandatory, as are leader and tippet – 3x or heavier! Barbless hooks.

Flies: Ice cream cones, Wade’s Bow-Tie Midge, Zebra Midges, Scuds, Hares Ears, Pheasant Tails, Red Copper Johns, and small San Juan or wire worms. Dries –  Goddard caddis, Ho Candy yellow, large olive elk hair caddis, ATT caddis emergers. Streamers would be Clouser Minnows, Zonkers, Double Bunnys, wooly buggers – black, olive, brown, white. and conehead Muddlers.
