Lamar, Slough, Soda Butte, and Pebble

October 14, 2019 9:00 am

Slough Creek is fishing well, especially in the upper meadows, while Soda Butte Creek is fishing not so good until one gets close to the Lamar River. Carry bear spray and keep an eye on buffalo when fishing Soda Butte, Slough or the Lamar!

The Lamar River is flowing 327 cfs at Tower.

Water temps are dropping n Slough, Soda Butte and the Lamar. Expect frosty mornings and moderately warm afternoons if a winter storm is not present.  The hatches are late season mayflies – BWO’s, gray drakes, midges and small caddis. Fishing has been best sticking with nymphs and streamers, although there are good BWO hatches around 1-3 pm, depending on the water and air temperatures. Terrestrial action has slowed way down since early October.

The fishing season in Yellowstone Park closes after the first weekend in November. Bears are present in this area. Pack bear spray!
