The North Fork of the Shoshone is rated as one of the best free stone rivers in the northern Rocky Mtn West. The river fishes best March through the end of October. Right now, the trout have begun moving into the river and moving up stream at a rapid rate. Nymph and streamer fishing is the name of the game with some dry midge or bwo action later in the day. There is some early season rainbow spawning happening. Please leave these fish alone. Yellowstone National Park is closed to fishing on these rivers until the May 2, 2020. These close again, November 2, 2020. Fishing reports will resume a week before opening day on the Firehole, Madison and Gibbon Rivers so you are prepared for action when the Park opens to angling!
