Flows: CFS 274 cfs
Flows are very low now. Floating is marginal, walk/wading is best.
Fishing has been fair to good all the way to Powell. North Fork Anglers is offering 3 float sections now for your enjoyment. Browns, rainbows, cutthroat, cutbows and the occasional tiger trout. Book a guided trip now. We have some slots open through November, when the lower Shoshone produces excellent fish in the net and bent rods!
Wading the Shoshone canyon and the section through town has also been good, especially in the late afternoon until dark. Wade carefully if in the canyon or swifter sections through town. Nymphing has been great in the canyon and the trout are responding to hoppers there, too.
Caddis, bwo’s and midges. Sparkle and or compara duns, rusty spinners, parachute Adams and spent mayfly or caddis patterns. Dry action has slowed since the flows dropped. Nymphs or streamers are a better recommendation.
Wet flies; Purple and Peacock Prince, San Juan Worms, Pat’s rubber legs, black girdle bugs and black or tan North Fork Specials.
Streamers: Orange blossom, black, brown or dark olive Zonkers, darker colored Sculpinators, JJ Special conehead, Black Peanut Envy, dark Sex Dungeons, black or brown crystal buggers and other dark streamers that have a lot of hackle or movement.
