Flows have been pinched way back to conserve water behind Boysen Dam for next year’s irrigation season. Water temps are still very good for all day action. North Fork Shoshone River

The North Fork of the Shoshone is rated as one of the best freestone rivers in the northern Rocky Mtn West. The river fishes best March through the end of October. Ice is beginning to take over the river. Fishing has been slow due to water temps. Fishing is better where the North Fork enters Buffalo Bill Reservoir. Lower Shoshone Tailwater

Flows: CFS 249 cfs Flows are very low now. Floating is marginal, walk/wading is best. Fishing has been fair to good all the way to Powell. North Fork Anglers is offering 3 float sections now for your enjoyment. Browns, rainbows, cutthroat, cutbows and the occasional tiger trout. Book a guided trip now. We have some slots open through November, when the lower Shoshone produces excellent fish in the net and bent rods! South Fork

The South Fork of the Shoshone is a smaller version of the North Fork of the Shoshone, with more boulders and pocket water and less public access to BLM, State or USFS land. CFS: 142 Flow readings are in the South Fork Valley section, 30 miles from Cody. There is some open water. Flows are very low. Private water laws apply on the South Fork as on the North Fork. Lower Clarks Fork

The lower river is fishable. Fishing is slow to fair. Nymphing is going to be your best bet.  Some dry fly action on the warmer days with BWO’s and Midges hatching. There is some open water. Wait until around 11 am to start fishing because of the ice on the river in the morning. Streamers, or going deep with weighted nymphs recommended. CFS: 229
