Don’t forget the lower North Fork is closed to fishing April 1-July 1 annually from the west arm of Buffalo Bill Reservoir up the river to Newton Creek. Read the regs and make sure you have a valid Wyoming Resident or non-Resident fishing license!! Above Newton Creek (aka Newton Springs) the North Fork is open with no closures in place. Use smaller stonefly nymphs in clear slow water and big rubber leg nymphs as the flows rise.
Flies: Wet -Black North Fork Specials with silver, red, hot orange or purple bead heads, size 6-12; Pat’s rubber legs, black stonefly nymphs6-10; Prince nymphs 8-12; soft hackle jigs sizes 10-14; black girdle bugs or bitch creek nymphs size 6-10 will work very well!
NOTE — Private property laws apply when floating below the US Forest boundary through Wapiti Valley to Buffalo Bill Reservoir. Be prepared for encounters with land owners if not obeying the water laws.
