Lamar, Slough, Soda Butte, and Pebble

June 20, 2022 9:00 am

Yellowstone National Park’s fishing season had a rude awakening June 12 and 13 as massive amounts of heavy rain and snowmelt inundated the Lamar River Valley. Soda Butte, Slough and the Lamar have limited access due to extensive road damage and scouring high flows. We are sorry to have to post this report. However, we do recommend fishing the upper Clarks Fork, Yellowstone River, or the North and South Forks of the Shoshone River in Wyoming to enjoy relatively remote angling, great hatches and trout averaging 18 inches or larger. The Park Service has no definite date for when roads might open to the Lamar, Slough or Soda Butte fisheries this summer.

Should you want an immediate update on flows, water quality, hatches, fly suggestions, we advise you call, not email, North Fork Anglers at 307-527-7274 for that. We also suggest and recommend that you do the same for the 2022 Guided Trip season to reserve dates and guides. We are already getting bookings for late spring and summer trips in 2022. If  you have your dates picked out, we urge you to get a deposit made as soon as possible so you don’t miss the chance to float or walk/wade Cody/Bighorn area rivers and streams.
