Yellowstone Lake and River below Fishing Bridge

June 20, 2022 9:00 am

Yellowstone Lake has been giving streamer fly fishers great action. Look for structure and fish streamers that have gold flash in them. Sinking or sink-tip lines help get those big streamers in the zone. The Yellowstone River in the LeHardy Rapids to Mud Volcano area is still  closed to angling until July 1 (a regulation change set this year). Stay tuned for the Yellowstone River report after July 1. The lake is discharging more water now that snowmelt has begun and the ice has left the lake. Flows into the Yellowstone River today are 4970 cfs at the Lake outlet near Fishing Bridge.

Should you want an immediate update on flows, water quality, hatches, fly suggestions, we advise you call, not email, North Fork Anglers at 307-527-7274 for that. We also suggest and recommend that you do the same for the 2022 Guided Trip season to reserve dates and guides. We are already getting bookings for late spring and summer trips in 2022. If  you have your dates picked out, we urge you to get a deposit made as soon as possible so you don’t miss the chance to float or walk/wade Cody/Bighorn area rivers and streams.
