CONDITIONS: The flows on the Low Sho are starting to drop. Dry dropper rigs are still the most productive fish catchers with streamers working on the overcast days.FYI, there is quite a bit of water cress breaking free and floating down stream at the moment.

CONDITIONS: The Bighorn is starting to fish better now that we are getting into fall and the water temps are dropping. Try fishing worm's, sow's, perdigon's, Zirdles, Yuk Bugs, scuds, and midges fished under a hopper. Fish the shallow riffles for the best success. -
North Fork Shoshone River

CFS: 322FLIES: North Fork Specials, Drag queens Pheasant Tail Optic Nerve, Trout Pupa, Orange Lucent Prince, Halfbacks, Lucent Tag Perdigons, Chubby cousins, PMD’s, Caddis, Green Drakes, and streamers.
CONDITIONS: Most of the fish have moved back to the reservoir but there are still a few quality fish in the system. Dry dropper rigs are still the most productive fish catchers but start to down size your hoppers and nymphs.

South Fork of the Shoshone

FLIES: North Fork Specials, Meat heads, Bloody Mary’s, Chubby cousins, Optic Nerves, Jigged prince, Lucent Prince, Walts Worm, golden stones, pmd’s, sallies, and Streamers.
CONDITIONS: The South Fork is fishing great right now. Dry dropper rigs have been the most productive tactic with attractor dries and various jig attractors beneath. Look for bwo’s, and caddis on the surface..

CONDITIONS: I wouldn’t expect large numbers of fish but there is the chance of catching some big ones. Dry dropper rigs have been the most productive method for catching fish with stonefly nymphs and various jigged attractors.I would also try working a streamer on overcast days and in the evening.

CONDITIONS: The East and West lake’s are cooling down and starting to fish very well. Fish are taking suspended chironomids, balanced leeches, terrestrials, and slow stripped scuds and callibaetis nymphs.

FLIES: North Fork Specials, Halfbacks, Optic nerves, Walts worms, 20 inchers, Lucent prince, eggs, stimulators, chubby chernobyls, Caddis, PMD’s, Parachute adams.
CONDITIONS: The Lamar river and tributaries are fishing very well. Hopper dropper rigs have been the ticket but look for BWO’s and caddis to be hatching.
Fishing ants, beetles, and hoppers has been extremely productive.

Yellowstone National Park | Yellowstone Lake & River below Fishing Bridge

Yellowstone Lake
FLIES: Buggers, balanced leeches, midge pupa, hare’s ear, pheasant tail, Callibaetis nymphs and dries, terrestrials.
CONDITIONS: Open and fishing well. The fish are starting to move back in towards shore and are becoming easier to catch from the bank.
Yellowstone River
CFS: (Lake outlet) 628
FLIES: North Fork Specials, Pheasant tails, Hares ear, Prince nymphs, Rusty spinners, Caddis, and BWO’s.
CONDITION: The Yellowstone is in great shape at the moment. We should see the fish taking caddis, BWO’s, rusty spinners, and terrestrials in general. I would also try working a streamer seeing that the cutty’s are try to fatten up for winter. Pack your bear spray and be on the lookout for large animals.
