FLIES: Firebead sow bug, North fork Specials, Purple Prince, Jigged Prince, Walt’s Worm, Lucent prince, Prince, San Juan worm, Bloody Mary, Pheasant Tail, Midge pupa, Jigged Meathead, Drag Queen, Sculpzilla, Mini Dungeon, Slump Buster, Thin Mint, PMD, Caddis, and midges
CONDITIONS: The low Sho is currently muddy from the heavy rains we received a month ago. It’s slowly clearing but might not be fishable for another couple of weeks. If you want to give it a try, I would throw dark stonefly nymphs, hot bead sows, and SJ worms.Dark streamers will be a good option as well.

Bighorn \ Wind River

CONDITIONS: The flows on the Bighorn are steady and the fish are happy. Look for fish in the shallow riffles using hopper dropper rigs with zirdles, yuk bugs, worms, sows, and perdigons. We seeing heads up on trico’s and PMD’s in the mornings. -

North Fork Shoshone River

CFS: 391FLIES: North Fork Specials, Rubber legs Drag queens, Pheasant Tail, Optic Nerve, Trout Pupa, Orange Lucent Prince, SJ worms, Trout Pupa, Halfbacks, Lucent Tag Perdigons, Chubby Chernobyls, Chubby cousins, and streamers.
CONDITIONS: Clear from Wapiti upstream and looking better and better below that everyday. We do have rain in the forecast for the next 5 days so there is a good chance the water will get muddy again. Stick to dry dropper setups with attractor jig patterns down below.

CONDITIONS: Starting to clear above Valley School and we’re actually catching fish! This trend should continue until we start seeing the rains that are forcasted to hit us for the next 5 days.

Dead Indian Creek

CONDITIONS: The water is dirty within the campground section due to a large log jam a mile up the trail. If you can get above that, the water is clear and the fish are happy. Small dry dropper rigs should keep you in fish. -

East & West Newton Lakes

FLIES: North Fork Specials, Rubberlegs, San Juan Worms, Sparkle Stones, Halfbacks, Jigged Prince, Drag Queen, golden stones, caddis, pmd’s, grey drakes.
CONDITIONS: Starting clear from the recent rains. Try fishing with stonefly nymphs and jigged attractors under an attractor dry fly pattern until you start to see noses up on stonefly’s, PMD’s, grey and green drakes, and caddis. Remember to pack the bear spray as well.
We have 5 days of rain moving in so check the CFS graph before you commit to fishing this area.

Yellowstone National Park | Yellowstone Lake & River below Fishing Bridge

FLIES: Hares ear, Pheasant Tails, Midge Pupa, Buggers, Balanced Leeches, Thin Mint, Scuds.
CONDITIONS: The fish have started to move to deeper water. Try throwing buggers, balanced leeches, scuds, and midge pupa. Look for noses up on midges, callibaetis, caddis, and terrestrials. Mornings and evenings are your best chance for catching fish from shore.
CFS: (Lake outlet) 1610
FLIES: North Fork Specials, Pats Rubber Legs, Pepperoni Yuk Bug, Sparkle Stones, PMD’s, Caddis, Grey and Green Drakes, Golden Stones, and Spuce Moths.
CONDITION: Open to fishing! Try working stonefly nymphs in the morning until you start to see bugs hatching. Look for noses up on PMD’s, Caddis, Spuce Moths, Gray and Green Drakes, and Stonefly’s.
