Fly rods, reels, fly lines, tippet, leader, nets, sling packs, hip packs, vests, waders, boots, wading socks, nippers, hemostats, indicators, weights, fly tying materials, clothing, hats, LOTS OF FLIES and more!

This can be a complicated question. Fly lines are very specialized and the wrong fly line can ruin a good rod, but also help a mediocre rod shine! The difference can be night and day. Before you give up on your rod, please let our staff help pick out the right line for it.

When purchasing line, please bring in your rod or at least know the make, model, weight, and length. This will greatly improve our chances of getting you the best line possible. If you would like for us to spool the line on for you, please bring in your reel.

That depends on the time of year, what you like to fish for, and how you want to fish. It is said that there are 2500 miles of water to fish within a two hour drive of Cody, so come on in or give us a call and we’ll help you find the perfect spot.

That’s a really tough question. It all depends on the waterway, time of year, and the general water conditions at that time.

Anyone can be fairly dangerous with a fly box with some Parachute Adams, Elk Hair Caddis, Pheasant Tails, Hares Ears, Wooley Buggers, and North Fork Specials.

Better yet, come in or call before you head out and we’ll let you know what’s working.

That all depends on you. Many times people come in to our fly shop wanting to buy something that their friend has told them to buy. While we respect your friend, sometimes this is not the best way to match you with a successful rod and reel combination. Why not go out behind our shop and cast a few? See what you really like and what fits your casting style and application. Let one of our trained staff members assist you with picking out the perfect combination. The best rod for you is not always the most expensive.

For the beginner fly fisherman: Starting this journey is like getting a driver’s license. Don’t start with the Ferrari, its way too much car for you. Start with the Honda Civic, learn how to drive that, and then upgrade your vehicle. This a metaphor for those just beginning their fly fishing journey.

Pick our brains! We’re here to help you improve. A guided trip can be a great way to improve your skill level. I overheard a senior guide at North Fork Anglers once tell a beginner client, “If we go out and catch 100 fish today and you haven’t learned anything, I’ve failed you.” Truer words have never been spoken. We are in the business to help and educate.

Other avenues for learning about fly fishing are from friends, family, books, and the internet.
