CONDITIONS: The Low Sho is clear and fishing well. Nymph rigs and streamers are producing the most trout. Be careful while wading because the water is high. -
Bighorn \ Wind River

CONDITIONS: The Bighorn is fishing great right now but the grass is an issue. Worm's, sow's, perdigon's, Zirdles, Yuk Bugs, scuds, and midges fished under a hopper have been working well. FYI, the fish have moved from the deeper runs into the shallow riffles because of the warm water conditions. -
North Fork Shoshone River

CONDITIONS: The entire North Fork is open for fishing. Hopper dropper rigs are the way to go right now with stonefly nymphs and jigged attractors. Stop by the shop for the go to flies and advice as conditions change.

South Fork of the Shoshone

FLIES: North Fork Specials, Meat heads, Bloody Mary’s, Chubby cousins, Optic Nerves, Jigged prince, Lucent Prince, Walts Worm, golden stones, pmd’s, sallies, and Streamers.
CONDITIONS: The South Fork is fishing great right now. Dry dropper rigs have been the most productive tactic with stonefly dries and various jig attractors. Look for golden stones to start hatching
The Game and Fish Department is reporting that a large number of bears are roaming around the South Fork river corridor. Be safe and take the proper precautions while fishing.

CONDITIONS: The river is starting to clear down stream of the canyon. Nymphing has been the most productive method for catching fish with stonefly nymphs and various jigged attractors. -

East & West Newton Lakes

FLIES: Hares Ear, Pheasant Tails, Zebra midges, Ice cream cones, Balanced leeches, Thin mints, Slump busters, Callibaetis nymphs and dries, Scuds, Soft hackled jigged nymphs, streamers damsels.
CONDITIONS: The East and West lake’s are starting to warm up. I would avoid fishing them during the middle of the day and focus more on the mornings and evenings. Fish are taking small damsel nymphs and dries, suspended chironomids and balanced leeches, and slow stripped scuds and callibaetis nymphs and dries.

Luce & Hogan Lakes

FLIES: midge pupa, scuds, hares ear, pheasant tails, red analids, backswimmers, callibaetis nymphs, and streamers
CONDITIONS: Both lakes are fishing well. Try fishing midge pupa suspended from an indicator or slow stripping scuds, callibaetis nymphs, and damsel nymphs and dries. Terrestrials can be very effective this time of year on Luce.

Upper & Lower Sunshine Reservoirs

CONDITIONS: Try fishing midge pupa suspended from an parachute adams or slow stripping scuds and callibaetis nymphs. Don’t be afraid to use terrestrials as well.

Yellowstone National Park | Lamar, Slough, Soda Butte, Pebble

FLIES: Pat’s rubberlegs, North Fork Specials, Halfbacks, Optic nerves, Walts worms, 20 inchers, Lucent prince, eggs, stimulators, chubby chernobyls, and worms.
CONDITIONS: The river is high and muddy at the moment and will probably stay that way until we get some cooler weather. Your best option is to fish the mornings and use deep nymph rigs.

Yellowstone National Park | Yellowstone Lake & River below Fishing Bridge

Yellowstone Lake
FLIES: Buggers, balanced leeches, midge pupa, hare’s ear, pheasant tail, Callibaetis nymps and dries, terrestrials.
CONDITIONS: Open and fishing well. Cutthroat are cruising the shore looking for a meal. This arguably the best time to fish the lake.
Yellowstone River
CFS: (Lake outlet) 3150
FLIES: North Fork Specials, Pat’s rubber legs, 20 inchers, Halfbacks, Prince nymphs, Salmon Fly’s, Golden Stones, Caddis, and PMD’s.
CONDITION: The Yellowstone is in great shape at the moment. We should see the fish taking big stonefly nymph’s until the start looking up for salmon flies. Pack your bear spray and be on the lookout for large animals.
