CONDITIONS: The fishing on the Low Sho has been great lately. Nymphing with small soft hackles, midges, and baetis imitations will produce with the most consistency. Small streamers in various colors will work very well on most days. Keep your eyes out for risers during the heat of the day feeding on midges and bwo’s (11am-3pm). -
Bighorn \ Wind River

FLIES: poxyback sow, yum-yum sow, Herford’s magic, Various worm patterns and colors, trout pupa, thin mints, BWO’s, Midges, Firebead sow, purple and pink lucent perdigon’s, black Spanish bullet, san juan worms, Sculpzilla, Rusty Tombone, Montana Mouthwash.
CONDITIONS: The Bighorn is clear and fishing well. BWO’s and midges are hatching on warmer days. Going deep with gray, pink, and tan sow bugs has been catching lots of fish. This is a great time to fish the horn.The Cutts and Rainbows are starting to spawn so please be careful of redds while wading around and please don’t target these fish. No one likes to be messed with while they’re doing their business.

North Fork Shoshone River

CONDITIONS: No reports of fish being caught up the river yet. We are going to see the temperatures warm up over the next week which will cause a spike in flows. This should be enough to get some fish to migrate upstream. Stay tuned for more information.

South Fork of the Shoshone

FLIES: North Fork Specials, Meat heads, Bloody Mary’s, Chubby cousins, Optic Nerves, Jigged prince, Lucent Prince, Walts Worm, Midges, BWO’s, and streamers
CONDITIONS: The fishing has been stellar during the heat of the day. Nymphing has been the most consistent producer with size 14-18 jigged softhackles. Smaller streamers have been working very well too.
The gauge in the Valley School section of the South Fork is broken and the USGS isn’t planning on fixing it. This will greatly limit all anglers, floaters, and hikers to access advanced knowledge about river conditions before heading up river. Please contact the USGS and ask them to fix this gauge.

CONDITIONS: Almost completely iced out. This is one of the only times during the year you can sight fish to trout cruising the shoreline with streamers. You gotta love that!!! If the fish don’t seem very active, try using midge pupa under an indicator.

Luce & Hogan Lakes

FLIES: Zebra midges, Ice cream cones, Balanced leeches, Thin mints, Slump busters, Callibaetis nymphs, Trout Pupa, Scuds, Soft hackled jigged nymphs, bowtie midge, Griffiths gnat, Hoppers, buggers.Be careful driving into these lakes if the road is wet. It can be very dangerous. Don’t push it or you might be stuck until it dries out.
CONDITIONS: Open and starting to fish well. People are catching fish on black leeches and midge pupa. On warmer days you might see some fish eating midges on the surface. -
